Review: Festival Mediterránea in Valência, Spain
The past 23 and 24 of August we could enjoy the second edition of the Mediterránea Festival in Tavernes de la Valldigna, Valencia. An appointment that with this second edition takes hold in the calendar of Spanish indie music festivals.
The location, which was the same as last year, is set a few meters from the beach and enjoys a great camping area and a natural grass enclosure. This year the restoration area was extended with tables and chairs, as well as the parking areas. But the real and important novelty was the parallel distribution of the scenarios. A decision that allowed linking the performances without waiting or displacements to the "Mediterráneana", as Santi Balmes of Love of Lesbian baptized the regulars of the Festival. On the other hand, the VIP zone was located at the back, in an elevated area which included a chill out area, a nice number of WC’s and some food stands, like hamburgers. With all this in consideration we take the opportunity to congratulate the organization for these improvements and for the good atmosphere that was experienced throughout the weekend.
Musically speaking the festival presented two days of good Spanish pop and indie music where we could enjoy and dance the liveliest songs of Varry Brava or the new hits of Miss Caffeine. Second and Full achieved a remarkable performance, although with nothing new to offer after the numerous appointments of the summer. The biggest expectation of the festival was Love of Lesbian’s performance, which was noticed on Saturday with a full house. The band from Barcelona and with more than 20 years of activity, faced the appointment with more than 10 musicians on stage offering a repertoire that made the band's most loyal fans and everyone there enjoy a unique experience. The show ended with some amazing fireworks to remember that the Valencian appointment of the Meditarránea is placed as one of the Spanish indie festivals to mark on your calendar.
Long live to Mediterránea!
